Mercury Taxis are officially one of the cheapest taxi companies in Sheffield. According to the latest table of fares that are issued to all of the black cabs by the City Council's Licensing Department, it is cheaper to ring and book a Mercury Taxi for any taxi journey over any distance at any time of day or night than to get in any black cab. Our standard 1 mile journey costs £3-80, but in a black cab it will cost £4-00 before 8-00pm and then afterwards it costs another 50p. So it will cost an extra 70p in a black cab for a one mile journey in the evening in comparison to using the services of Mercury Taxis. The differences in the fares gets greater and greater & more and more expensive the further the distance you travel, for example a 5 mile journey with us costs £9-00 and in a black cab it will cost £10-00 before 8pm and then £10-50 after 8pm.
